GARAGEKUNGEN´s   PLAYGROUND

And now: WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF HUMBLENESS - see You...
Artificial breathing.JPG (9996 bytes)    Let me introduce to You " THE VERY ROOT OF EVIL " - the reason of this crazy challenge: ALF HANSSON - from Kivik or The terror of Osterlen ( from what I learned ).
He is going to cut the rest of us by the height of the floor - building, according to himself, a real street racer good enough to shut down all kind of challengers ! ! ! ( Well, if he comes from the middle of nowhere - what does he know...) Just kidding, if You like to check " The whole story " about his car, as far as I know ( and I know a great deal about it ) it will not be easy to put him in the rear mirror.
His goal is to run in the 9:s at year 2000 - and h-ll knows if the old man will make it.

1999

During the summer he was resting from his race car project, and went trying his luck with his daily driven red Tempest at the local race tracks. Because of the blower, he has to run in a class ( 10.5 " slicks ) where the rest of the cars are trailer queens...
That didn't prevent him from being second in points at two occasions over the season, and this is even before he has turned the key around in his race GTO, yet to come...

2000

The CAR was ready... but not the engine. And before every thing got into place, the summer was ended even in southern parts of Sweden.
He really wanted to try his new toy this year, but not everything goes like you expected it to...
Well, well - next year there will be nothing stopping him from showing the rest of us how to RACE A GOAT, I hope...

Svante at Mantorp 1997.JPG (13355 bytes)    I can´t forget myself, SVANTE LIND - Stavsnaes, a true dreamer who will not give up. Check at the side PROJECT and You have the opportunity to join the development without getting neither dirty nor broke.
My goal is to run in the 9:s at year 2001 - one way or another.

1999

We got a building permit for a new BIGGER house, and I made a deal with my wife
- NO major expenses on the car before the house is done...
... and there will be NO complaints about long days ( and bills..? ) in the garage when it comes to the CAR.
So 2001 is more like 2003...

2000

New Millennium and new directions - the house have to wait... We moved to California and now only the stars know when house or car building will start.
I don't complain, changing three month of Swedish summer for a place in the sun isn't that hard after all...

Camaro - runs like hell....JPG (9786 bytes)    Here we got someone already driving his car on the streets ( like a black angel in heaven ? ! ? ).
It is STEN SKAANSJOE - Bjorknaes, always #2 ( he always put the blame on me ). Last was at the European Street Finals where we ( I am his crew chief ) lost the final by two ( 2 ) millimeter ( 0.1 inch ) despite a greater speed of 20 km/h ( 12.4 mph ).
Anyway this is a 1984 year mod Camaro driven most of the time east of Stockholm. It has a Chevy SB 406 cid. One of the better " plate under the carburetor systems " from NOS helps up the situation when everything seems to be hopeless. So far it has been enough for a best ET of 10.51 sec ( Street Finals Mantorp 1998 ) and a best speed of 216 km/hour ( 134.3 mph, Tullinge 1998 ).
His goals for 1999 - a better place at the European Street Finals maybe...

1999

A late start spoiled the chances of taking the local Cup ( missed the first Stockholm Cup and had some problems in the second race... ). But after that the car has been going better and better.
Goals for the year in his hand.
- A personal best now of 10.286 sec @ 138.73 mph on the RADIALS !!! A win of the European Street Finals, radial class. ( European Street Final Champion on Radials, feels pretty good... )

2000

A new job, and the time wasn't enough to get the car ready for some action this year. But hopefully will the red bad Camaro be ready for some fun next year again. It's a waist of everything NOT to drive it...

Self is the best undertaker...JPG (16967 bytes)
First dry driving -12 deg celsius.JPG (12430 bytes)    Now it´s time for the youngest driving license so far.
THOMAS LINDVALL, Stavsnaes. He just got two words in his vocabulary - fast and nice ( probably compensating him self... ). He got hooked during a ride in Stens Camaro and now he wants to thank him by showing him his tail lights ( and they are pretty big as well ! ). I am pretty pleased by the fact that they are mounted on a Ford Mustang -68 fast back, rebuilt to a Shelby GT 500 of -67 year model ( REBUILT is the word - this one is going to be real fast when Thomas has everything cleared...).
The engine, a Chevy SB at 383 cid, designed for long and truthful duty.
The goal for this season is to run in the 11 seconds zone, by year 2000 it should be down in the 10:s ( he talks about it like time drops just by it self...).

1999

A less intelligent buss driver ruined the summer for Thomas. Read more about it at the Team page.

2000

Even Thomas got a new job situation, so the car was ready late in the summer.
- And then it showed the brand new forged SCAT crank didn't pull it off. It was flexing ( even without nitrous ) and left the main bearings wear down... No cruising or racing this summer, sh*t !!!
But just wait till next summer....

Tullinge -98, Car in the lineque m.JPG (7702 bytes)    Now the turn came to a man who uses the car despite what the original freaks says ( and he does not need to rebuild anything because he is a proud owner of a REAL SHELBY 500 GT ). And he uses it hard too...
PELLE BJURENBORG, Stockholm, are sure the best way to keep a green Shelby GT 500 from 1967 clean is to drive fast as hell and leave the shit behind. Up to now it has not been fast enough so there are some changes for this year.
All winter the original ( matching number ) 427 been doing work out at a local gym and will hopefully serve it´s master better this summer. The goal is to run in the 11 sec zone without any nitrous - to begin with... - and a 11 could be anything from a fast 11.99 to a real quick 11.001 - so this is really promising !!!

1999

Pelle really wanted his first 11 second run... but easier said than done. Or, what do you say about a 12.000 seconds sharp !!!! ( promising..? )
He is really determined to go faster next year...

2000

This year seemed to be some kind of " forgotten year " for many of us on this page... Rebuilding the house stopped him from going else where, but next year - The Shellby will be back, just you wait and see...

Tullinge -98, Against a friend of Jonas m.JPG (9602 bytes)

Gone in 60
seconds...
Why don't watch a REAL SHELBY in action for a change.
Movie with sound.
En vanlig sommarkväll.JPG (8813 bytes) Now it´s time to present a guy who's hart beats for street racing " the good old way ". ( And I mean the way it was handled when car owner #1 and #2 happened to get long side each other some 100 years ago...) This is far from computers and time slips, and it´s often done in the darkness of the night.
He is doing his best to preserve this nice hobby for the future, that means doing it often - not always with a good result...
HANS DAHLBERG, Nykoping does what he can to make the roads unsafe in a black ( what else ! ) El Camino of 1972 year model. The car was delivered from GM with 1970 front, 2000 kg vehicle weight, a hot 355" with a lot of nitrous and a 4-speed lenco transmission - very rare indeed !!! ( would like to se the vehicle code - hmmm...) Anyway it´s most useful in acceleration comparison with others - owners words. The carriage ( car and the jerk holding the steering wheel ) goes by the name of " Dino Racing " - not totally unknown for nearby inhabitants...
What's up ? Well he is looking forward to shut down a Ford or two...( What does he mean by that ?!? ), we going to try to provide him with some test samples...
By the way he speaks, and acts, I am sure the " good old street racing " will survive another year in the Nyköping area !!!

1999

He was doing alright ( first in points at the local street race cup - all being raced on public roads every second week...), when the enthusiasm strangled the intelligence at a red light...
He now strongly recommend some kind of RPM switch when using nitrous... ( read: small failure = all engine oil on the pavement in NO time... )
The spirit was not to be mistaken on, when I meet him. So he is probably back next year with a new engine.

2000

New job... heard it before - you bet. Another one at this page with a lost year, but he is preparing for next season, I can tell by the way he talks about it.

Camino snett framifrån.JPG (13792 bytes)
Ett tamt yttre säger inte allt(11085 bytes) Here comes the first entrance from the west coast of Sweden. One maybe would have thought it should have been a Ford, due to the tradition of this part of Sweden, BUT NO !!!
JESPER KARLSSON, Gothenburg shakes all earlier known profiles by choosing a CHEVROLET Camaro Z28 from 1971. A stock looking appearance, yes - it´s driven almost every day, so he qualify to the group of street racers ( as for " street " counts...).
How good he enter the ring of " racers " you could easily found out at his site. The only thing I say is:
- Due to what he is going to put under the hood, he will have a pretty - no, a really good chance of reaching the inner circle.

1999

Somebody put a nut in the intake while the car was parked in a garage - and the engine was history... Jesper was forced to " walk over " for this year.
We all feel very sad for him and hope will be back soon !

2000

Negotiations with the insurance company ended, with some points for good style to the man in the Camaro... At last back on the roads. Some good - some less good results as far as I understand. It will certainly be interesting to follow his way around next year.

Potetial innanför skalet finnes...(8229 bytes)
Slimmad figur (10781 bytes) Even next contender comes from west of Sweden. So they do have some real street racers there...
JONAS ALHOLT, Gothenburg takes a chance and enter the contest in his FORD Mustang HT from 1965 (even thou the hardtop ain´t that big anymore...). Most of the parts have gone through some changes since they left the factory.
Jonas is a 100 % Ford freak - Ford body, Ford rear end, Ford gearbox ( still is - or...), Ford engine ( almost whole engine - well, well block and water pump still are FORD...), he even works for Ford ( thou they spell it VOLVO when living in Gothenburg...)
This seem to be a good combination, believe me, he´s been doing the 1/8-mile with a top speed of 121.8 mph... ( NO - It´s not a mistake !!! 121.8 miles per hour - just taste it !!! ) More about it at his site for those of you who are interested in his whole story.
His goals ( don´t know if I dare to write this - but someone got to bring him back to reality from that top speed...) I bet he will do everything to bring down his 60-foot time...

2000

This guy has really put his parts to work, and work well... I have read about it my self at his own web site ( which, by the way, is much more professional than my own ). I can only congratulate him to his good results - it will really be interesting to see what will happened next year.
