ENJOY SOME
SUMMER PICTURES... The idea of this side is to mix some, maybe fun, moments. Some sort of describing text might go with them as well...

Well, another year has past...
Funny, it's just everybody else getting older, MYSELF, I just grow more like a boy... Probably because one realize life is short, and it's only up to your self to do some fun about it - before you know it, it's too late... That's why I decide to pay 52ND Grand National Roadster Show a visit. This year at San Mateo in the middle of January. This was a pleasant reminder about what's coming up in a couple of month, Summer - summer and a lot of nice outdoor meetings. I'll take a risk of getting boring, but I've decided to put up a lot of car pictures this year - so those of you who don't like watching that better hit the road... ( smile ) I don't have much to say about each car here, but one thing for sure, the superb Impala -64 here was one of the most desired cars in my eyes. The engine for it is built by a friend of mine here in the Valley. I have about 40 - 50 pictures from this show and it was real hard to pick just a few of them - hope you like 'em... |

As I wrote above - mid
January had a car show on the west side of the Bay. A couple of weeks later it was time for the next one. This time on the east side of the Bay. 10th of February we drove to Oakland for some more indoor amusements. The weather could have been better, so we took Kenneth's little black import car instead of the Mach1. It was time for... OAKLAND ROD, CUSTOM AND BIKE SHOW 2001 ( life is short - better make the most of it...) We couldn't see any reason why not visiting this event as well, it's definitely a good way of getting one day closer to the summer. Here are some of the pictures I took - hope they don't get you bored, as I happened to slip in a bike picture there as well...

At last, summer ( or
close to it...) The 24 March ( Saturday ) was opening day for GOODGUYS 19th ALL AMERICAN GET-TOGETHER at Peasanton Fairgrounds. Kenneth and I was
free from our families for the day, so this time it was time for the Mustang to take us
where we wanted to go. On the forecast there were some risk for rain or showers during the day - but, what the heck, better take a chance than never go for it... We where driving of in the dark morning hour. We got there at about 7 AM and there where a long line of Hot Rods, Muscle cars and Customs already on it's way in to the Fairgrounds. Once we passed the registration and got inside, we parked along some other's Mustangs from the 60-ties. YES !!! How was the meet... Probably around 2500 - 3500 cars, and if that wasn't enough you find another 1000 cars at the sale spot area... I say we missed about 1/3 of the cars due to lack of time... When the rain started about 3 PM we thought it was time to go home. But first we had a big hamburger, and talked about this and the next show... Always keep the dream alive...
Here are some of the pictures I took - hope you enjoy them ! Now it´s summer... |

A very exciting
year with many fun parts. Among the best parts during the time here in California
have been the times when my friend Lazze has been here, visiting me, and we have
unresponsebly dived in to car-freak-stuff... ( Lazze is my friend with the Aluminum Willys
) When he was here in May, we had the time to go down to Los Angeles to visit some friends in there " garage ". Three very fun days... very
much thank to the all the people we meet and there kindness and the way they helped us
find our way to the next place. A BIG THANKS FOR THAT !!! 1) First ( of course ) Mike and his wife Aida Nordahl, Willys Replacement Parts, where we spent some time looking at everything, including there cars... 2) After that we visit Carl and Walle at California Street Rods. We also got the chance to look around the shop. 3) Next on our tour was Chip Foose, who we met a couple of times before, and we like to pay him a visit at his place. 4) We also took the chance of visiting Fred Blanchard at Arias. The facility may not look much from outside... |
||||
5) ...but boy - do they have nice engines...
6) Bo Bertilsson ( a
fellow Swede ) was great and spent a day guiding us around. You probably already looked
through his book Hot rod, if not, check it out !!! |
||||
7) Dan Fink was next. He manufactured the most beautiful stainless grill - very impressive !!!
8) Here we visit Roy Fiastad Jr, West Coast Street Rod´s. He is a hot rod builder in his own shop, something he seems to inherit from his dad - founder of Deuce Factory.
9) After that we went to the rest of the Fiastad family at Deuce Factory. Here we see the crew as we where told some memories from the past. At shop we also had the chance to take a close look at their Salt-Lake Race cars.
10) Last picture is
when Stewe Davis shows us how to work in the Yoder. Steve was very friendly and took a lot
of time showing us around in his shop. It is always interesting to meet and talk to such skilled people in there shops, especially when they are as opened and friendly as those who we had the opportunity to meet during our little trip to Los Angeles. Unfortunately was my battery dead when we visit Marcel´s shop. It is a
shop run by a father and his two sons, manufacturing custom built bodies from drawings or
models !!! GREAT PEOPLE AND GREAT WORK !!! Three days is to short time if you think you want to meet everybody and see everything, so I think we have to go back there...

WEST COAST
NATIONALS 2001, PLEASANTON Here are some pictures from the biggest Hot Rod meet on the West Coast of US. I have the pleasure of being a vender at that show together with my friend Lazze. First some pictures from our booth and then car pictures all the
way... I hope you like it. As we where tighten up all days during the show, the pictures here will be from early mornings and late after noon's. I apologize for the poor quality of some pictures - but it anyway shows what this is all about... 1) 23 Aug, ready to leave for Pleasanton with everything on the trailer. 2) 23 Aug, the booth is ready. 3) 23 Aug, during the night they had a gathering at one of the major hotel in Pleasanton. The parking was like one big show, and we ( Lazze, Jan " Snowball " and I ) took advantage of it and walked around and looked at all the nice cars and bikes. 4) Ness Patrol, parked outside the lobby.

20) Early morning on Main Street, inside the fairgrounds.
21) The first strings of sun just reaching down to cars and vendors... We have a habit of getting there real early just to watch how cars roll in and the whole area gets a up and going - it is great to hear and see.
22) Here are George´s yellow and Frank´s black, two nice looking Fords parked at the fairgrounds. These guys where here when the legends made the records at Half Moon Bay and Freemont Drag strip...
23) Early morning... | ||||

Happy Dayz
Diner. As the page wasn´t long enough before, I decided to put in
some pictures from the local burger stand meets held every Thursday, San Jose´in the
intersection between Bascom and Union, 50 yards south on Union on the left side if you
travel from the crossing. 1) First out is great looking modified Charger, blown 526 cid Hemi just make the car even more attractive... 2) Early Novas are also cool cars, in my eyes, and I always wonder why this outfit couldn´t be an option right from the dealership... ( reinforced braking kit, support balance kit ) 3) ... and of course reinforced motor kit !!! 4) Another all time favorite, -55 - 2 door - post, doing great with all those after market accessories. I wouldnn´t race this one for the pink slip...

5) ... not with that stack of injectors coming out through the hood.
6) But these are not the only hard contenders coming here. Tim is a great example of what you can do with less money - but still a great outcome...
7) ... really good looking Hot Rod by all means. Motor is a LS-5 topped off with a tunnel ram manifold.
8) Jim, another buddy of mine, has really succeed in building a cool Hot Rod from a concept of his own. This is a -40 Ford Sedan, but more about his car later on...
![]() |
9) But there are not just Pro Street cars on these meetings, here you find almost everything on wheels...
10) A lot of muscle cars use to be represented as well, here are some taste samples of that... Shelby GT 350...
11) Hemi Cuda convertible, let´s check this 426 cid car out some more...
12) ... wow, this is the real stuff...
13) ... and when it´s time to go home you can tell it by the brutal sound !!!
14) Don´s Corvette ain´t that bad either, or maybe you should prefer to call it BAD... Set up for road racing and under the hood...
15) ... All ALUMINUM 417 cubes SB Chevy, just to make sure ha doesn´t need to take any shit during daily transportation. Read more about Bay Area Corvette fun here.

16) Last picture from
HDD is just a reminder about what this is all about. Warm evenings when the DJ plays tunes
from the -50:s and -60:s in the speakers. A parking full of great cars and nice people.
You can walk around in T-shirt and shorts even though the calendar says 25 October... I´m going to miss this when I have to move back to Sweden...

HOTROD REUNION,
BAKERSFIELD This was the meet that was suppose to be held just once, that was 10 years ago... and the interest seems to increase more and more... It was not in my calendar, but after talking about it with Jim we said
" Why not ? - just for the hell of it..." We where 5 boys, Jim with two sons and me and my youngest son Tor. 02.30 AM Saturday morning we left home, to pick up Jim ( with boys ) and
his already packed trailer at his place. We where counting on 5 hours drive down to
Bakersfield going hwy 5 ( 55 mph ). As we got there we unloaded, and then we just enjoyed our self 125%....

4) First ride for me in a blown car, 530" BBC helps turning those wheels around...
5) Day 1 we parked at one of the parking lots...
6) ... but for the Sunday, some Staff wanted Jim to park his ride some what more central... ( just in front of the main tent )
![]() |
7) Why ? Because- / Despite- the little burn out we did in front of the main stand during the parade. ( you choose ) ESPN made a cover of the meet and we have been told they had Jim´s car in picture 5 times... one showing how he was doing his best finishing those 20 inch wide rubber during the parade... As soon as we get a copy I´ll see if I can get it in here for you.
|
|||
8) Great swap meet, new and used parts, covering everything from flathead to Hemi...
9) Good old known cars and people was doing show runs, and it was a lot of show for some of them...
10) Of course a lot of drag racing with cars pre 1972.
![]() |
11) Some interesting stuff came cruising by...
12) ... some came flying by...
![]() |
13) ... and some were just standing by.
14) At the parking you find all kind of cars...
15) ... and roadsters for different use. From the well kept, great looking...
16) ... to the guys and girls who seems to compete in doing there ride as dangerous as possible.
17) I couldn´t miss the Pro-Street cars, as I like those ( guess you noticed that ). Ford Fairline, pretty unusual ( still good looking ) as a P-S car...
18) ... Camaro doing great when looking like this...
19) ... and this Chevelle also fits in.
20) BUT what would it be without Willys ??? So, for you Willys lovers here are a couple of more pictures...
21) ... and I´m not the only one in my family attached to those contours. Here has my 9-year old son picked his choice of " dangerous cars "...
22) ... and there where plenty of more to enjoy at Bakersfield. And...
![]() |
23) ... some of them where naturally racing as well.
24) By Saturday evening a lot of older race cars where fired up and drow in front of the main stand...
![]() |
25) ... and of course " Big Daddy " Don Garlits where one of them.
26) There is a lot of things I would have liked to show here, but I don´t want the page to be too long. One picture of Jim and Nitroman in front of Jim´s car before it was time to watch...
![]() |
27) ... the finals.
Unfortunately our buddy Brendan Murry already was out of the race, but instead we had the
chance to hear him as a speaker, a damn good one too !!! ( guess that wasn´t the last
time...) Here is the grand final, and both teams had stepped up the power just little too much...
|
|||

28) And here I end the
pictures from 2001 Reunion. Everything in place and the trailer hooked up we show the
camera what we thought about it - GREAT !!! We will be back - be sure of that... |
