This is Sunday morning, waiting for
a qualification run, at Mantorp - European Street Finals 1997. Stens car and crew chief
are both checked for liquid needs. The just new built car was first started Saturday ( day before ) at 5 p.m. Then straight on the trailer for the trip ( 270 km ) to Mantorp. Ahead of us stands a silver colored Corvette who's owner had to comment the impudence in ignore Saturdays qualification runs and rely on Sundays single qualification run - thatīll be the day... wouldnīt pass unpunished... - we take it as a compliment, when he is known as some sort of expert in show off business... How it all went ? We qualified as 8:e and last of 16 in our class - this without using the bottle. But lost in the first run due to a malfunctioning switch - the errors had just began...

for European Street Finals 1998. We all make the ride down there in company. This is Stens
old car. In this he was doing 11.81 sec @ 187 km/h as the best result. That was good
enough for a 2:nd place at European Street Finals 1996 on steel belt tires. I always liked
it when a race car can handle a trailer...

This is a typical day at Tullinge race way,
where we go street racing thanks to SSRO ( Stockholm Street Race
Organisation ). Despite the bad weather we had 1998, all the race days where good. On this
picture we see Pelles very nice Shelby ( 427 cid Ford engine, matching numbers ) just
started warming the tires in a meeting with Jocke Klangebos nice Chevy. I just happened to
pass because Sten was in the previous run.

) - You can almost smell the smoke... - hear the sound... - feel the thrill... Here, in the tire smoke from the couple before, when all the preparations of the winter are done - THE SUMMER IS HERE ! ! ! I canīt wait - can You...

race car in this black Chevy from -56. And if the finish of it isnīt enough to kill you -
itīs fast as well. " Sessan " had made the quarter in 10.54 sec on radials. Impressing, considering it was done on pumped gas - no nitrous - in a 3965 lb. street driven shoe box... |
