GARAGEKUNGEN´s   PLAYGROUND

WARNING : TEAM EASY COME - EASY GO !

One thing that really strikes You after reading car magazines, - You are nothing if You don´t have a TEAM... Just to save us from total jerk-disaster we gathered a team. And the name we choose was:

TEAM EASY COME - EASY GO !

The body of the team are two cars and four people as follows:
- Me and my car "GAMLA PENGAR" a Mustang HT 1969 and my crew chief Magnus Annell.
- Thomas Lindwall and his car "LUGNA GATAN", a Mustang FB 1968 rebuilt as a Shelby -67 ( see THE CHALLENGE ). Thomas have some help from Rickard Ekblom, in his attempt to scare the rest of us...
As long as my car is exhibitioned in the side PROJECT I will dedicate this side to pictures and stories from the team in general and Thomas and his car in particular. ( It´s just a matter of time before he screw something up...)
In order to survive the winter, ( the pit stop we have every year in this country ), we also put a ice racing team together, ( it´s all about junk car racing with welded rear axle differential ), as a contrast to the summers hi-tech and showroom finish. We welcome everybody and the rules are simple:
- thin wallet and
- no sense...
And the name, in winter we call our self
" TEAM RISIG KOM - ISIG GÅ " ( team junky come - icy go ) !
We hope other of the street race team will join up in this contrast to the super grip in our summer sport. Everybody are welcome to the circuit we have here on Djurö island - but more about that later.

Now to street racing this summer.

We are going to try our luck at the following places. If You wish to come and participate, or just look at the show, but You don´t know the way don´t hesitate to send me a mail and I will give You all the info You need. When You are at the track - don´t hesitate to step forward and talk to us, look at the toys we got, or just feel the the spirit...

DATES AND PLACES 2000: Nothing this year so far, moving from Sweden to California took a great deal of time, and we didn't have any internet untill August...
Swedish event is hard to track down from here but I will present times and places I think is worth spending the time at around the San Francisco Bay Area.
And I try to spend alot of time at such places...

Sweden: Nothing.

California: Happy Dayz Diner: San Jose, intersection Bascom & Union - 50 yards south on Union left side. Every thursday from 4.00 - 8.00 PM, all kind of cars show up and a D-J plays tunes from the 50's and 60's - One of my favorites.

Påkörd av buss vänster fram m.JPG (12501 bytes) 1999 summer was not as good as it could have been... It started alright with a test drive of the car. But after a couple of weeks he was overtaken ( while he was standing still ) by a incompetent bussdriver who kindly tryed to paint the Mustang red with the whole longside of the buss ( Swedish busses are red ) he was driving !!! The front was ruined and the rest of the summer flew by while that was fixed.
Första provkörningen 2 m.JPG (11231 bytes) It hooks up real good in first gear, runs straight and sounds hard throu the dual 3.5" exhausts... Here are some pics from the first test drive of the car, I bet you could feel the thrill !!!
On it's way up from the " garage ".
Första provkörningen 3 m.JPG (9956 bytes) - Tomas, Tomas, I think you forgot something...
Första provkörningen 4 m.JPG (9350 bytes) ( Looks like he can't wait to get it on the road !!! )
Första provkörningen 5 m.JPG (9297 bytes) Ooh-Yeah, that's much better if we had to deal with the custompainted blue-white cars from down town...
Första provkörningen 8 m.JPG (9676 bytes) This is what it looks like from the passenger side ( and no smokey in sight - smoke is not good for your health, you know...)
Kolla in motorn - Häftig va.....JPG (20068 bytes) April and May was a period of a lot of expensives for Thomas. The engine came from Ridstrom and the gearbox from Anders Sehlberg, not to menshen all these small parts like gaskets, screws, and those AN-fitings in every kind of design... ( hopefully he had some discount at the local Speed Shop, Persakers Speed Shop. )

Bilden ovan är inget trickfoto - den sitter på plats...JPG (16254 bytes)
The place of the ignition box .JPG (10167 bytes)    During Mars Thomas and Rickard really been in to it, even thou the temperature in "the garage" ain't been too nice. There is some parts of the electrical system that has been redrawn. And the fuel system also got a better pump ( BG 400 ). If this was not enough, they also had put in the stands for the new gearbox and new engine ( it seems so small...). As it goes now it looks like the first test drive will be in the middle of may...

They pose outside Thomas VERY NICE garage building. Days like this, when the gearbox space are checked, one really are amazed anything happened on LUGNA GATAN at all. Hopefully the car will be running at the beginning of May...

Crew of GAMLA PENGAR.JPG (9229 bytes)    Here You can see the responsible for my Mustang -69 HT. Magnus - Crew chief to the left. And my self - owner and hopefully becoming driver to the right. The picture is taken outside my garage, beginning of mars -99. Until GAMLA PENGAR are ready to race we will help both Sten and Thomas in there efforts at Tullinge and elsewhere...

Thomas and crank in place.JPG (14229 bytes)    Thomas visiting Bosse Ridström where the engine are under assembly. So far he has to settle with just turning the crank in the block. Everything are so neat and clean, You can almost feel the smell of the ponies yet to come...
